Yue Fei Temple

In memory of the famous general in the Southern Song Dynasty, Yue Fei's Temple is situated in front of Qixia Hill facing the West Lake in Hangzhou. For centuries, Yue Fei has always been regarded as the incarnation of justice and loyalty. In 1961, the State Council declared it as one of the major national protected monuments in China Tourism.

Yue Fei's Temple is composed of three parts, the tomb grounds, Loyalty Garden and Devotion Garden. Dating from the Ming Dynasty, stone horses, stone tigers, stone sheep and stone figures are arranged on both sides of the path leading to the tomb and the tomb grounds are built with rocks in a round shape. Devotion Garden recently serves as the memorial hall of Yue Fei and Yue Fei's statue in martial attire exactly erects in the middle of Loyalty Garden.

The attractive part in Yue Fei's Temple is that there are four cast iron statues of the traitors, Qin Hui, Wang Shi, Moqi Xie and Zhang Jun, which are a strong contrast to the loyal general, Yue Fei. With the hands tied behind their back, all the statues kneel down in pairs and tourists would express their antipathy to the traitors after hearing their dirty trick of entrapping Yue Fei. Tourists can appreciate the poems, the calligraphy and the steles, expressing the reminiscence and respect to Yue Fei in memorable Hangzhou tour.
